Weekend update: 8.25.2013

This weekend was a good one. I can’t believe August is almost over! Ack!

Friday
Friday afternoon we had our work summer party!! It was country fair/hillbilly themed. We had delish BBQ for lunch and played some field games, everyone dressed up, and we got done early so I got to go home and take a nap! It was a great way to spend the afternoon!

Friday night a bunch of us girls went to dinner for Sarah’s birthday. It was fun to see people and chat and catch up. And of course it was fun to celebrate with Sarah! Sadly I didn’t take any photos. Boo.

Saturday
Saturday my alarm clock went off earlier than it does during the week and I managed to make myself get out of bed and go for a run. Lately, every time I run, I get terrible headaches and am pretty much out for the rest of the weekend. I decided to take it very easy and see if that made any difference. I ran  4 very slow miles and didn’t feel terrible by the end but as the afternoon went on, the headache came.  So. Frustrating. Apparently my body just isn’t into running anymore or something.

Despite the headache, I carried on with my day. I went to the farmer’s market with sister. I just love the market-it’s so fun and there’s some great people watching! I took a little nap. Cleaned. And got myself ready.

Saturday night we tried again to go to the stargazing thing at Snowbird and again it got rained out. I was the saddest that we weren’t able to make it to either one! So instead we went to dinner at Red Rock. I was still feeling rather terrible so we just had a quiet evening in.

Sunday
Sunday was lovely. I had a meeting before church and finally got things organized and underway for my calling. The church meetings were good too. After church, Mario and Dale came over for dinner which is always a good time. They brought an amazing chocolate mousse for dessert. It was seriously to die for. Thanks Costco!

After dinner we watched some of the VMA awards. I was quite surprised how non-crazy Lady Gaga’s performance was. And I was completely blown away with how horrific Miley Cyrus’ performance was. What on earth happened to her?!? By far though, the best was Justin Timberlake. His music he performed was so great and the N’Sync reunion minute was amazing!!! Totally brought me back to my teeny bopper days!

Up Ahead
This week should be a good one! Lots of hot yoga, a Portugal reunion with Jane, and Swiss Days and 2 weddings next weekend! Yay!

Weekend Update: 8.18.2013

It was a rather slow, quiet weekend this past weekend…

Friday
I was up half of Thursday night sick so Friday night I took it easy. Changed into my pajamas as soon as a got home from work (that’s right-even though I was sick I went to work anyways…I’m not using my PTO to stay home and be sick!), made some soup, and caught up on my DVR.  Jeremy came over and kept me company. He’s such a dear-he even watched Step Up Revolution with me!!

Saturday
It was a very relaxing and low-key Saturday. In the morning I should’ve run but figured it wouldn’t be the best idea after being sick on Friday and only eating brothy soup all day. So I slept in. It was lovely and much needed. Saturday afternoon we had our monthly ladies dinner club-except we did lunch. Emmalyn hosted and it was fabulous! It was fun to all be together and to eat a delish, healthy lunch!

Saturday night we were going to go to a stargazing event up at Snowbird but it was cloudy and rainy so we decided to make it a movie and dinner type of night. We saw Despicable Me 2, which was very cute and fun. Fingers crossed that the weather is better next Saturday and that we can go to the stargazing thing!

Sunday
I kind of love Sundays because it’s an excuse to do nothing but relax. It was a good relaxing Sunday. Church was church. The parents went to their empty nester dinner so Rissa and I cooked breakfast for dinner. We went all out and had all of the delicious breakfast things we could think of. I also may or may not have nearly burned down the kitchen. Note to self-don’t spray cooking spray on a pan on an open flame. Oooops.

Up Ahead
This week is going to be busy!! I’m finally hoping to get back to hot yoga a few times this week, and get in a few good runs. This marathon thing is coming up soon and I am so not ready! Ack! We also have our work summer party on Friday! Hooray for having a day out of the office!!
