2013 Goals: Final check-in!

I can’t believe that 2013 is over! It went by so quickly! I suppose now it’s time for the final 2013 goals check-in.

Goal completely accomplished:
Goal #9: Go on an exotic vacation! This year I traveled to Portugal. It was such a fantastic vacation and a place less traveled by most. Loved completing this goal!

Goal #10: Improve my financial situation. I made some great strides here and set out what I had wanted to do (can I be any more vague?!). Looking forward to more goals in the future.

Goal #12: I finally won one of my tennis matches!!! Success!!

Goal nearly accomplished:
Goal #3: Send 100 pieces of mail. I sent 96 pieces of mail-including Christmas cards-this year! Ideally I wanted to send 100 pieces of mail, not including Christmas cards, but ended up counting them to get me almost to my goal. One of my 30 by 30 goals is to send 100 pieces of non-Christmas card mail.

Goal #8: Read 12 books and the Book of Mormon. I came pretty close-I read 11 books. Putting more reading in my 30 by 30 goals too.

Goal #11: Make a chevron quilt. I am nearly done with the sewing part of the quilt. I have one more long strip to sew and then I’ll have 2 halves to sew together. And then I have to find someone to quilt it. So I’m close. Very close!

It was fun working towards these goals throughout the year-even though there were a good handful I didn’t finish, I feel great about the ones I did!

Now on to my 30 before 30!!

Best moments of 2013 according to Instagram: #1-10

And now for the top #10 moments of my 2013, according to Instagram!!! **some of the photos are on my old computer. I'll get them in there at some point but if you want to check them out find me (erinmasi) on Instagram!

#10. Grilling picture: 47 likes
I decided that I wanted to learn how to grill this summer! And what better way to get started than after church in heels and pearls?!

#9: Running picture: 47 likes
This picture is from one of my few training runs! I joined a running group and we did our runs insanely early in the morning (since it was the middle of the summer) out on the Jordan River Parkway trail. It was a lovely trail to run-I wish it was closer to my house!

#8: Symphony with Mamma: 48 like
One of my all time favorite pieces of music is Vivaldi’s 4 seasons!! The Utah Symphony played it this season so me and my mamma went. It was so wonderful and we had a great time!

#7: NYC half-right before: 49 likes
I already posted one picture from the NYC half, this one was taken by a stranger just before we started the race. Don't let my smile fool you. It was so SO cold and I was rather nervous since I had only run approximately 7 miles total before the race. Ack!

#6: Mom’s dinner table: 49 likes
My mamma has TONS of dishes and linens. Setting a beautiful table is one of her many talents! This is a picture of a fall table that she set for her Empty Nester Dinner club. So lovely!

#5: Gingerbread houses: 52 likes
This year Jane and I hosted a gingerbread house making night! We used graham crackers and had all of the fixings for decorating. We had a nice small group and had a great time!

#4: NYC half-finished: 58 likes
By some sort of miracle I finished the NYC half marathon. The first 8 miles actually weren’t that bad! And then the last 5.1 miles (and yes-that .1 makes a big difference) were a nightmare. I was cold, I was hurting, and to top if all off my ipod died at mile 10.5. Thank goodness for the sweet Canadian ladies who let me run the rest of the way with them! Note to self: never again run a half marathon without training. Bad, bad idea!

#3: Christmas tree: 62 likes
Our Christmas tree all lit up on Christmas eve!

#2. Symphony with Jeremy: 64 likes
Jeremy and I went to see the Utah Symphony and Byron Stripling perform Holiday Swing! It was such a lovely festive show and a fun outing.

And the #1 best moment of the year (according to Instagram) is……….

New hair: 67 likes!!!!!!!
I was getting bored of my hair and wanted to do something fun that wasn’t chopping it off. So my awesome stylist Kambria colored it!!! It was a fun change for the summer and Kambria did a great job!

Best moments of 2013 according to Instagram: #11-20

#20. Flying the airplane: 37 likes
When we went to San Francisco, we flew the nightmarish Allegiant Air. Altogether we had 12 hours of delays for a 1.5 hour flight. There was one bright spot-they let me sit in the cockpit of the airplane! Yes. I’m 7 years old. The co-pilot was awesome and showed me what to do so I looked like a legit pilot for the picture. So fun!

#19. Electric Run: 38 likes
This really was not a great year for running, but I did the electric run! Me, Jane, and Marissa walked it and had a great time! The best part was running into Juan Pablo-the newest bachelor on ABC! And don’t worry-I literally ran into him-he stepped on me! Can’t wait to watch the episode in January!

#18. Joshua Radin/Matt Nathanson concert: 38 likes
I never pass up a chance to see Joshua Radin live! I just love him and he’s so great. And lucky for me, he was playing with Matt Nathanson this summer!! Hands down one of my favorite concerts I’ve been to in a while. We had a great time. And decided that we’re too old for standing concerts. Ha.

#17. The fur: 39 likes
The fact that this TBT post made the top 20 list proves that the coat is timeless. And I need it.

#16. Pioneer Park concert: 39 likes
All summer long I wanted to go to one of the summer concerts in Pioneer Park. Jane and I finally made it to one. It was quite the scene. And most definitely NOT my scene. We actually ended up leaving early…ooops!

#15. NYC girls: 41 likes
I was lucky enough to make it out to NYC 3 times this year! This picture was taken after our girls brunch at Isabella’s. I just love these girls and love that I get to see them when I’m in NYC!! I wish they’d all just move to Utah!

#14. Race for the Cure: 42 likes
Race for the Cure is one of my favorite events of the year. It’s a 5k run/walk to raise money for the Susan G Komen foundation, which supports breast cancer research. We do it together as a family every year. This year some of our friends joined us too which was fun!

#13: Temple lunch with Karen: 43 likes
One day during the spring, Karen and I met for lunch. It was finally warm enough to eat outside so we eat outside by the temple grounds. It was so lovely to be outside in the sunshine and with the flowers!

#12: NYC marathon: 45 likes
Once upon a time I wanted to run the NYC marathon, and I was accepted! Sadly my body had other plans and training was a bit of a disaster. So instead of running and dying, I decided to defer to 2014. Hopefully my body will cooperate with me this year and I’ll be able to train and run!

#11: NYC half-the day before: 46 likes
Even though I didn’t run the full marathon, I ran the NYC half marathon this year! It was a great excuse to go to NYC. This picture is of me at the packet pick up the day before. Please note the heavy coat and general cold look. Yikes.
